Enjoy your once in a lifetime culinary adventure through Asia’s bustling night markets and uncover a treasure trove of delicious vegan delights.

Night Markets are very common in Asia, but finding vegan food at them can stand to be a challenge
Night markets are a vibrant and integral part of the cultural landscape across many Asian countries. These bustling markets come alive in the evening, offering a plethora of street foods, handicrafts, and entertainment. While the atmosphere is incredibly inviting, finding vegan food amidst the myriad of options can indeed be a challenge.
Many traditional dishes may include hidden animal products such as fish sauce or meat broths. However, with a bit of determination and some helpful tips, you can still enjoy a diverse array of vegan-friendly snacks and meals.
Seek out vendors selling fruit and smoothies (this is the best way to find a snack)
One of the easiest and most refreshing ways to enjoy vegan food at night markets is by seeking out vendors who sell fresh fruit and smoothies. These stalls are often abundant and offer a colorful array of local and exotic fruits.
Smoothies and fresh fruit drinks are particularly popular and can be both hydrating and nutritious. Just make sure to confirm that no dairy is added to your smoothie to keep it vegan.

Look for vendors selling fried samosas
Fried samosas are another great vegan option commonly found in night markets. These savory pastries are typically filled with spiced potatoes, peas, and other vegetables, making them a satisfying and flavorful snack.
Always double-check with the vendor to ensure that no animal products are used in the preparation, such as ghee or animal-based cooking oils. When made with vegetable oil, samosas can be a delightful vegan treat.
Checkout Fresh Soymilk and Tofu Vendors

In addition to fruits and fried snacks, fresh soymilk and tofu vendors can be a vegan’s best friend at night markets. Soy products are widely consumed across Asia and can be found in various forms, from silky tofu to refreshing soymilk.
These vendors often offer a range of options, including flavored soymilk and different types of tofu dishes. Tau Foo Fah is by far my favorite snack and it can be found at Kim Soyabean’s stand in Chinatown Kuala Lumpur
